What's cold weather without a cozy blanket scarf?! These scarves are one of my favorite staples for fall and winter weather.

You can make any simple outfit complete with a cozy scarf. I love pairing this burgundy, blue + beige plaid ILYMIX blanket scarf with a solid long sleeve, jeans, and sneakers.

ILYMIX has so kindly given my readers a 20% off discount on all of your orders by using the code 'Meiss20' at checkout!

The other day as I was reading Philippians 2, I paused on verses 3 and 4 and haven't been able to stop thinking about this four word phrase since. Something that you'd think would be so easy, yet it's so hard!
Philippians 2 : 3-4
3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
I'm so guilty of doing things out of selfish ambition and not being fully aware of my actions in the moment. I know for a fact I'm not alone in this. Many of us always want to make ourselves look good no matter the cost. The more I think about this, the more I'm irritated with my ill motives.

Actions speak much louder than words, so please join me in being more aware of our actions and what we're trying to portray. Let's be others-focused not self-focused. We can't be motivated by pride and our desire to one-up others.

So the next time my husband does the dishes-
DO: I need to be more thankful / aware and value his servant-heartedness.
DON'T: Try to one-up him by cleaning more to portray I'm just as good or better than he is.

I encourage you to take some time to really self reflect on your actions and your motives. I'm far from perfect, I'm so broken - yet the more I self reflect, the closer I get to God and can strive to imitate Him.

Amelia Island, FL

Last weekend we loaded up the cars and road tripped 9 hours down to Amelia Island, FL for a family wedding.
We arrived with plenty of time for a walk along the beach before getting ready for rehearsal dinner.

The air was warm, the water was cold, and the sand between my toes felt just right!
My first time in FL was everything I dreamed it would be and more!

Saturday we strolled around downtown and grabbed lunch at The Picnic Basket.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I truly love a quaint Main Street and boy did Amelia Island have just that!

The family kept talking about this little old gas station called T-Ray's that serves up the best Breakfast in town. So before departure, we made a stop at T-Ray's and THEY WERE RIGHT - it was delicious!

Do what you love - Do it well - Set Goals - Aspire to Succeed
Your worth isn't found in your work! God uses ordinary people for extraordinary things.

What in your life is driving you? What is your ambition?

We set our alarms for 5am to watch the sunrise. Clearly worth it!

July kicked off with a long drive to Illinois. We departed our driveway around 5am and made it just in time for our 100+ person family reunion. Since I've only been a Meiss for a year, I was thrilled to meet more of the fam. All of the hugs, stories, trivia, and laughter made me love being a part of this family even more. We took a tour of the tiny town where Dad grew up and hopped back in the car to land us at our favorite destination -- the lake house! Where the water is warm,  the drinks are cold, and the food is delicious!
I wanted to share with y'all some photos from our week and captions only I will probably find funny.
Enjoy :)
