On September 13, 2014 not only did I turn 21 years old, but my best friend got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Forget turning another year older... I GOT ENGAGED!
Such a fun filled day full love, laughter, and tears of joy!
This is one of my favorite stories to tell...
The day started out completely normal, we had breakfast, played beersbee, walked wesley, went for a boat ride, and then got all dressed up and us gals headed into town to get our nails done! [Except for Mrs.Meiss and Jordan, they made up really good excuses not to go!][P.S - if you don't know me, well then you don't know how much I love to have painted nails!]
A couple hours later we returned and there were candles leading down to the house and the girls insisted I walk alone. Okay lets be honest, I was hoping it was what I thought it was, but then I was nervous and insisted Maddie walk with me. She refused! [Good Job, Mads!]
I got down to the house and to my surprise my mother was sitting there on a bench. Bring on the water works people! I thought she was back at home working which is like 6+ hours away. We hug, we laugh, we cry and she tells me how much she loves me and then tells me to head down to the dock where Mitch is waiting for me.

The stairs were beautifully lined with candles. I began walking slowly down about seventy stairs and along the way were pictures of Mitch and I nailed to the trees. This was so beautiful and romantic I had to take it all in but what I really wanted to do was kick off my heels and run down to him!
As I got to the end of the stairs Mitch walked over and led me to a table with a bouquet of white roses and a Bible. The patio was covered with candles in mason jars and the lake looked calm as could be. THIS WAS PERFECT!
He flipped open the Bible and read to me:
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
Ephesians 5:28-31
In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”
Proverbs 31:30
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Ecclesiastes 4:12
And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
[Mitch is a man who loves the Lord with all of his heart! I am so encouraged by the way he lives for Christ and the way he loves others. He is such an amazing leader and I am so thankful God has placed him in my life!]
Next thing I know, we are walking over to the center of the patio where he pours out his love for me and gets down on one knee! HE DID IT! HE ASKED ME TO BE HIS WIFE!

I SAID YES!
I'm crying tears of joy as he places the most beautiful ring upon my finger.
He tells me to look up to the house where I then see the whole family! My Mom, Mr. & Mrs. Meiss, Jordan, Madison, Jake, Grandpa & Grandma Meiss, Grandpa & Grandma Mendenhall, and our friends Shannon, Alyson, and Austin!
Then... our song comes on "I Don't Dance" and we danced around the patio.
This was a dream come true! Everything was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
I'm the Event Planner, but I'm beginning to think he may have me beat!
As we headed up to the house I saw tables and pictures all set up with gorgeous lights hanging above.
The most amazing proposal was followed by a delicious dinner out on the patio with the ones we love!
